Our Project "BEE LOUD" was inspired by the famous poem "The Lake Isle of Innisfree" by the Irish Poet William Butler Yeats, who lived in Thoor Ballylee in close vicinity to our school. Here is a narration of the poem by the children of Kiltiernan NS
Inspired by our great Irish poet William Butler Yeats we have written our own poetry in honour of the bee and we hope you like it:

My Bee Hive
I will put in my bee hive
the sound of my friends humming
In the soft spring wind
The smell of perfume as I
fly around the hive
And the feeling of a soft
pillow under my tiny feet
I will put in the bee
hive a million flowers for all to smell
And pollinate from
And then a bright sun
that turns to dusk and
A round moon in its place

The Bee’s Poem
I am the
queen,
I love the sound
of my babies buzzing here & there gracefully
And the
feeling of satisfaction of a hive with every bee working in harmony & peace
I know how
to feed but I struggle with flying
I am good at
leading the operation from the side-lines
I wish I
could join their scavenge
I love to
see my children growing
I care about
my family; they mean more to me than anything
I
am their leader, but not their helper (& not the band).

Bee poem
I
am a glorious honey bee
I
love the sound of wings rapidly beating around hives
The
feeling of taking the pollen and nectar out of the flower makes me feel proud
I
know how to make honey
I
am good at collecting nectar for my family
I
wish I could stop hurting people
I
love exploring
I
care about feeding my family in the winter
I
am a honey bee

The Bees’ Poem
I am a honey
bee.
I love the
sound of bees in the hive working hard.
And the
feeling of respect in the hive.
I know how to
save the earth.
I am good at
producing honey for you to engorge on.
I wish I
could live in a better climate.
I love to
help the hive.
I care about
my fellow bees and the environment
I am Nature’s Gift…

The beehive
I will put in my beehive
The sounds of many drone bees ready to set off on their adventures
The smells of the honey and wax in the
honeycomb
And the feeling of warmth and safety in
the cold seasons.
I will put in my beehive
The queen and lots of her children ready
to pollinate
And then my hive is complete

The
Honey bee
Honey
Lives in the midst of the
honey factory
Hears the buzzing of her
peers
Sees brightly coloured
flowers in the distance
Feels tired having to work
for the queen
Fears predators
Gives what is taken for
granted
Wonders if life has more to
offer
Dreams of one day meeting
someone like it
Believes that she can be
saved
Loves to keep believing and
Is Proud of her work

Bee Character Poem
Bee
Lives in a golden hive
Hears the buzzing of her peers
Sees the fresh golden honey made just this
morning
Touches the smooth crisp bees wax
Needs the colourful flowers in bloom.
Fears the humans next decision.
Gives the gift of nature’s wonders
Wonders about the dwindling population of
flowers
Dreams of a long life for her siblings
Believes a change is coming
Loves the summer breeze against her skin
Is the reason of our existence

The Beehive
The sounds of bee wings humming
The smell of honey comb

Bumble Bee!
Bumble
Lives where all honey is produced
Hears buzzing of hardworking bees
Sees a world full of delicious
flowers
Touches a flower, so soft
Needs to put in effort for his
queen
Fears that there shall be no more
of his kind…
Gives what is taken for granted,
Wonders if he will ever feel the
comfort of safety?
Dreams of the hive empty
Believes he can be man of the
hive
Loves to feel he’s important and
Is needed…

The Beehive
I will put in the beehive,
The sounds of bees coming in and out with delicious sugary honey.
I will put in the beehive,
The smells of honey dripping out of hexagonal capsules,
And the feeling of honey drizzling on my wings.
I will put in the beehive,
A supply of honey to last the winter and then the feeling of cosiness and safety.

ReplyDeleteThe children looked at the world from the perspective of the bee in these poems ...stepping into a hive, navigating through wildflower meadows, imagining being dusted with pollen and savouring honey...well done to all our young poets!
