Our School Kiltiernan NS is a 3 teacher school, supported by Learning Support and Resource staff. It is located between the villages of Kilcolgan and Ardrahan. The name of our school originates from the 8th century saint Naomh Tiarnáin who built a church nearby. The present school was built in 1948 and was extended in 2006 and officially opened on June 16th 2007. Our Vision is a child-centred approach, effective partnerships between school, home and local community and a strong focus on sports, the Arts and our local environment.

Principal’s Message:

Our school is a place where everyone’s contribution is welcomed and valued. Children have different learning styles. Each child is unique. In Kiltiernan NS we have embraced this belief in our teaching. We have developed strong partnerships outside our school with other schools, Coole Park, Babaró, published authors, Tara Book Club, Galway County Libraries, Galway Education Centre, Young Voices, grandparents and extended family, local GAA clubs, local artists, musicians and environmentalists. It is my wish that our pupils will have a positive self-image, equipped with the knowledge and skills to engage confidently with the challenges they face when they leave our school.
